Shea Butter: My Key to Moisturized Skin

Monday, February 23, 2015
The weatherman saying that it is cold outside is an understatement. I honestly feel like every time I walk out of my apartment I am stepping into the Arctic Tundra. I have Caribbean blood and I am not equipped for this type of weather. One of the worst things about this weather, next to hypothermia, is dry skin! It is certainly not cute to see a layer of ash on your skin. So, when this time of year rolls around, I like to stock up on my most prized ingredients: Shea Butter. Out of every moisturizer I use on my body, nothing has come close to locking in moisture like Shea Butter. It has this thick texture that melts at body temperature making it ideal for those who have trouble with dry skin because it really locks in the moisture. It is also my favorite thing to put on my feet at night since the heels and the bottom of your feet are one of the most neglected areas on your body. Just slather some on the bottoms of your feet and place a sock on them overnight while you sleep, and it will feel like velvet. I am currently using Suave Smoothing Body Lotion with Cocoa Butter and Shea and so far it has been keeping the dry skin at bay. Another brand that I would definitely recommend would be Shea Moisture products. Their products smell amazing and based on my experiences they always deliver the results that they promise.

Try:

Suave Smoothing Body Lotion with Cocoa Butter and Shea ($3.49)

SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Body Lotion ($9.99)

Fashion Week Gift Bag Haul

Monday, February 16, 2015
Hey guys! I interned at a showroom for New York Fashion Week this weekend and I have an amazing gift bag haul to show you all! I am so excited about the products that I received and I hope you enjoy it too!

1st Gift Bag:
1) Free Hotel Invitation: I received this amazing voucher for an overnight stay and dinner for two at any Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa.
2) Mehron Precious Gem Powder in Pearl: This is an amazing highlighter to use when you want to draw attention to areas of your face where you really want to emphasize.
3) Mehron L.I.P Cream in Natural: This is a highly pigmented and hydrating lip cream that is perfect for cold winter days like today!
4) Salon Grafix Professional Shaping Hair Spray: If you are in need of a hair pick me up then I would definitely invest in this!
5) Salon Grafix Professional Freezing Hair Spray: This is great for those long nights of having fun and you need your hair to stay in place.
6) Votivo Aromatic Candle No 38A in Persimmon Poppy: I honestly have never smelt a candle this good! The vase is beautiful and will act as a great centerpiece on your nightstand.
7) Skyn Glacial Cleansing Cloths: This is great to have when you are too lazy to wash off your makeup the old fashioned way when you are too tired. However, I would not rely on these wipes all the time! Always make sure you use your favorite cleanser before you go to bed!
8) Votivo Aromatic Perfumed Sachet in Honeysuckle: This is an amazing sachet freshener perfect for storing in your drawers or your closet to give it that homey smell.
9) Lindt Chocolate: It says that it is salted caramel. I am not too sure about it, but I will try it and get back to you later.

2nd Gift Set:

1) Mario Badescu Bag: You can honestly never have too many makeup bags. I have like 15 and I probably use only two of them. However, it is great to have when you need to store your makeup when you are traveling.
2) Ezyme Cleansing Gel: This is an amazing non-foaming cleanser that is great for those who need extra exfoliation to get a brighter and smoother complexion.
3) Hydrating Hand Cream: Winter months calls for extra moisture. My secret to locking in moisture is slathering hand cream on my hand and then placing a glove or sock on it. I know it sounds weird, but that’s why my hands are always so soft.
4) Seaweed Cleansing Lotion: You should always use a toner after cleansing your skin to get rid off excess make up and dry skin residue.
5) Magnet: Honestly, who doesn’t need an extra magnet on their fridge? Am I right?
